Haul: Belated Birthday

So I can't be blamed for this post being late, it was my birthday AND christmas all in one month. I decided to show you what i got as i'm incredibly nosey and would love reading blog posts like this on other people's profiles.

As i was working the day after my actual birthday, 4th December (blog post on my exciting job sooooon). I decided to go out the weekend before whilst at uni with everyone! Our flat decided to have a load of people over and then we all played drinking games before going out into town.

I wore my red bodycon dress from Miss Selfridge, with my black stiletto heels with sparkly bows on the sides, also from miss selfridge! Sadly these items are prettyyy old, so will now be out of stock. My necklace is just a thin plain silver diamante piece, but i thought with all the tan and eyelashes and curly hair that i didn't really need much more going on!

For my make-up i applied my foundation (Rimmel London Wake me Up - in soft beige 200) along with concealer to hide any blemishes. I then used my amazing naked palette from Urban Decay to create a smokey eye look, before i used my liquid liner and added my false lashes. I'm also wearing my Nars blush in shade 'Luster' and my rimmel london apocalips lipgloss in the shade 'Big Bang'.

Few photos from before we left:

So my actual birthday came around and as I was still at uni, my mum drove up to see me. First of all we went to my room and i opened some of the presents she had brought up with her. My main present of the day was going shopping, and after a lovelyyy day out i got bought the most lovely things EVER. Very lucky girl and i love my mum to bits.

Item 1. From Mum and Dad

I was super excited to be able to get these. These boots are Kurt Geiger, From the Miss KG collection and are called 'bonjour'. I fell in love with these straight away, and have been wearing them loads ever since. They are soooo so comfy despite having a heel, and you can drive in them easily which is a bonus. I can't think of any faults to give to these. Go and buy a pair!

Item 2. From Mum and Dad

If you go back to my wish list blog post, you'll see a fur coat that i posted about. I GOT IT. I can't find a picture on the website, i was scared it had gone out of stock but luckily found one in store. It was retailed at £89 and was from Miss Selfridge. Its a long coat, all faux fur with a silky satin lining and sooo so warm! Perfect for the weather at the moment. Here's a picture of me wearing both the boots and coat before my birthday flat meal out:

Item 3 & 4. From Mum and Dad

I then got some NARS make-up to replace the blusher that i dropped, and the lipgloss pencil that i used so much off it ran out. The blusher is the most gorgeous peachy shade, and called Luster, retailed at £21.50. I love it because it instantly warms up your face after application. Especially nice to wear in the warmer months!

The lipgloss i bought is so cool. They're called velvet gloss lip pencils and i'd never seen a lipgloss in this way before. There were only 10 shades to choose from, but i bought the same shade i had used before which was called 'New Lover'.
These lipgloss don't have that horrible sticky feeling once applied and feel more like a lip balm on the lips, the colour is also a really natural shade, enhancing your lips to look just a teeeeny bit more flushed. Retailed at around £17. http://www.narscosmetics.co.uk/color/lips/lip-gloss/velvet-gloss-lip-pencil/new-lover

Item 5. From Mum and Dad

Ok so don't hate, but i got 1D's perfume. I love it! It's the perfect scent for me, super sweet and floral girly smell and the bottle is so pink and pretty. I also love one direction and i'm not even ashamed so of course i'd love this perfume anyway.

Item 6. From my sister.

My 12 year old sister bless her, went out and bought me the 'Cherry Me' babylips lip balm by Maybelline. Cherry lips is my favourite one out of the whole collection ( i now own them all and will blog about them soon). It's super soft on your lips and i love the subtle shade of red it brings, makes you look so much healthier! The scent as well is amazing, it literally smells of those cherry drop sweeties, i just want to eat it. The packaging is also really colourful and funky which i like a lot, and easily affordable at £2.99!

Items 7,8,9 & 10. From my boyfriend.

To start with i got the MOST amazing blanket ever in the world. After using his several times i was determined to have my own, in pink of course. And i got it! They're called berkshire blankets and they have a website if you want to have a look as there's a fair few different types. I got the most fleecy thick cosy blanket i think i've ever EVER felt in my life. It's also absolutely huge, easily fitting over a double bed and you don't even need to use a duvet in freezing temperatures its THAT warm. As i am someone who is terrible at dealing with being cold, this was perfect for me!

I then got a beauttttiful framed photo of the two of us which is now sitting nicely on my uni desk, and was a picture that was taken by a professional camera so it's a lot nicer than the normal photos. It was also a lovely thing to get as he's out of the country currently, so i have a little thing to remember him by. Love love love.

Now these two things would probably come across as weird, but they're inside jokes. Because of all the litter at uni there are a LOAD of cute squirrels running all over the place, and as i am an animal freak i take the time to feed them out my bedroom and kitchen window. I named the first squirrel i fed Timmy, and now whenever i see a squirrel i claim it to be Timmy, and therefore was given my own squirrel (teddy form) so i now own a beautiful Timmy. The second inside joke present is even weirder. My boyfriend absolutely hates the way i cut up cheese (i cut it fine) but just because it isn't perfect neat slices, he gets annoyed when a hack away at a block of cheese and leave it in a zig zag mess. Therefore he bought me a cheese slicer hahaha, which i struggle to use as it's so confusing and i don't have the strength.

Item 11 & 12. From my Auntie and Uncle

I got a lovely golden slinky chain necklace and a pink lepoard print purse from River Island. Here is a photo of me wearing the necklace :

After my day out shopping i came back and my flat went out for a Nando's! One of my flat mates organised for a waiter to sing happy birthday to me and bring me some cheesecake mmmm. After our meal we went back, and i found out my flat mates had bought me a birthday cake and a card. I also skyped my boyfriend and then went to bed! Perfect day, Happy 20th to me!

Makeup: Fancy Dress

So i haven't blogged for months and months and i'm not even sure why, i guess i've had a lot of deadlines coming up so was concentrating on trying to get everything in on time! A lot has happened in the time since i last blogged which i should really have written about but i'll make sure to do it, excuse the fact it's late.

Way back it seems now, it was Halloween on the last day of October and as I'm at uni it was obviously going to end up in a night out. I'm a qualified make-up artist and studied for a year at The Make-Up Bus in Thame. (It's not actually a bus) I learnt how to do prosthetic make-up so Halloween was an opportunity to use it!

Me: I chose to go as a spooky looking, bloodied doll.

Overall i was happy with the outcome! I started off by trying to make my skin 'porcelain' like. I used a lighter foundation than my skin tone, which was cream based so it had a thicker coverage. After this my skin looked pretty flawless but definitely a no for a day-to-day look. I then used even lighter concealers to highlight under my eyes, cheekbones, bridge of my nose and temples to enhance certain features of my face in different lights. For my pink cheeks i used the pinkest blusher i own and brushed up along the cheekbone to emphasise them more. I used an eyeshadow similar to my hair colour to fill my eyebrows in to make them look as fake and accurate as i could, dolls eyebrows are painted on so i sort of did the same. I then opted for pinks and purples to use as eyeshadow as i felt they were doll like girly colours, and brought them higher up my eye so the colour was clear to see. I then realllllllyyy carefully took my liquid eyeliner in black to draw that circle shape under my eyes, along with the drawn on eyelashes coming away from it. This was extremely hard and you definitely need a steady hand. Next i took my white grease paints and white pencil eyeliner and filled them in, to give the illusion my eyes were bigger than they were. To finish off the eyes i put on pink false eyelashes which sadly can't really be seen in this photo!
For my lips i used a pink lipstick and just filled in the centre of my lips to make them smaller and in a pout shape, and i then put the foundation on the rest to camouflage them into my skin. I'm pretty sure i also had freckles on with an eyeliner which also can't be seen in this photo, i blame my awful phone camera.

The Halloween touch: To turn this look spooky, i got my fake congealed blood, and dabbed it round the corners of my mouth and then upwards in a steady straight line. I also did a ring around my neck, and random cuts around the remaining skin showing. On my forehead i have used grease paints to get that pinkish colour and then built up layers of liquid latex which i then peeled open to pack with fake blood, resulting in this gross holey wound on my head. For my hair i simply curled it, and put it into high up bunches, and used dolly ribbons as hairbands.

Amy: My flat mate Amy decided to go as Jigsaw from the films Saw.

Amy's look was a lot simpler to make! I started off by completely coating her face white with grease paints, and needed a few layers to get it just the right shade. I then used a black eye shadow to cover her lids and under her lower lash line to make them appear sunken in and dark. I got a thin brush and used my red grease paint to carefully draw on swirls on her cheeks, this part was probably the hardest simply because again you needed a steady hand! To finish off the swirls i took the dark eyeshadow and dusted it lightly around them to bring them out more against her white face. For the lips, we used a red lipstick, and yet again used the grease paints in black to draw two black lines downwards representing the jaw. Lastly, her brows were drawn in black with a pencil eyeliner! For the hair, she backcombed it all and pinned parts of it up!

Katie: My flat mate Katie decided to go as a cat.

So this is the only picture i could find of Katie close up, and i'm glad she's looking down as you can see the eyeshadow! Thankfully Katie had an easy look to make (and as you can see is nicely curling my hair for me whilst i look like an absolute freak.) Katie applied her own face makeup, and i used my Urban Decay naked palette to do her smokey eye look. I used silver and black shades, and made it darker in the corner as it became gradually lighter into the centre. I used a tissue and folded it to get a straight line, i then pressed this against the outer corner of her eye to ensure i got a straight line. Using a mixture of blending brushes i feathered it into the centre of her eye making it lighter in shade as i went. I then took it slightly under her lower lash line too. I used my black liquid eyeliner to do a winged cat eye look, and also to draw on the nose and whiskers! After some coats of mascara she was finished! Katie had her hair curled and then backcombed to create volume, and added the cat ears to finish.

Some pictures of the night:

Keeping with the fancy dress theme, i also attended a dance social night out where the theme was animals 2x2. There was a list of animals and you had to pick one to go as and find your pair on your night out. I chose to go as a cheetah, i didn't own any cheetah like clothes, so went all in black and used my creativity to make myself appear cheetah like instead!

Meow.

This took me absolutely ages. I yet again used my trust worthy grease paints, and sat for a few hours in my room painting myself as a cheetah. Yes, i have no life. I used my orange/yellow shades to paint on big sections, and then got a tiny angled brush to draw on free hand cheetah spots in black, which took a lifetime. I did it down my neck, across my chest, all down my arms, hands, and face. And then used a glittery gold to outline a few of the black spots. I also used the black to draw on my nose, and take a line down to my lips where i covered my lips in black too. In between my nose and mouth i made my skin white with greasepaints and then added in a few black speckles. For my eyes i used my Urban Decay naked palette and used the shimmery gold colour, before doing a black liquid liner winged eye, pencil eyeliner in my tear line and then mascara! I painted my nails black, and backcombed all of my hair.

Haul: Student Lock In Event

Happy Tuesday everyone! So today's a relatively busy day lecture wise, i had zero sleep last night so it's been a huge struggle to stay focused. However, today has been rather productive, and had a successful shopping trip to tesco and bought a banquet, quite literally.

So i thought today i'd show you what i bought at the student lock in, as i've mentioned it in previous posts and i love having a nosy at what people own and buy. I didn't actually buy a lot of items but they were quite pricey so quality over quantity here! I'm a student, I'm poor.

As soon as i walked in TopShop was the first shop, and as I'm a huge fan of their clothing I went straight in! Now usually i walk in a shop with no logic, and just buy anything and everything that i think is pretty, this time I actually thought about what i NEEDED and purchased two lovely jumpers for the winter!

Jumper No.1

I bought this jumper with embellished shoulder detailing in the cream colour in the first picture. Ive shown it in black here because it was the only colour left on the website (and a blue colour), but i thought cream would match with a lot more colours! The fabric is super soft and its extremely cosyyy. I also really love the embellishing as it gives it a glamorous touch and i absolutely love sparkly things! The only bad thing about this jumper is the sleeves aren't full length, so it's not completely ideal for winter.
Priced £46

Jumper No.2

This is my second Topshop jumper! It's a cropped jumper so i bought it two sizes bigger so it was covering more of me, but you still need an under layer. However it's completely worth it because it's the cosiest thing i've ever worn! The material is known as an 'eyelash' jumper because the fabric sticks out sort of like eyelashes, and it's incredibly soft and snug to have on your skin. Having it in a plain colour also allows me to style it up with bold accessories and pair it with an array of different coloured clothing. Priced £34

As these both came to a quite a bit of money, i didn't buy any more clothing and instead treated myself to a few jewellery pieces.

I bought a three pack of midi rings from Miss Selfridge! I chose them because one had a J on, and then the other two were also cute so i liked them all! The bigger ring with the garnet stone was my grans that i got given when she passed away. I had to get the midi rings in size small because my fingers are ridiculously skinny!

Last but not least i bought a necklace from Miss Selfridge as well, and i thought it would go well with a lot of different things. It's a little gold chain with a heart, and i like it because of it's size. It's not too small to not notice, but it's also not too big so that it draws attention away from the outfit. The only disadvantage with these is that the gold fades to silver!

Me wearing the new black jumper and the necklace with a Kate Moss lipstick in shade 107.

Mini wish list!

Evening all! So i've been trying my best to be a good student and budget sensibly and all that, leaving me incredibly sad over the fact i can't go shopping. So these are a few things i've been eyeing up lately, some for ages, some just recently, but i want them all and the lack of money is making me rather sad!

Item 1.

So these shoes are probably my most wanted by far. I've been looking at these for a few months now, i first sighted them in a store in London when i was on a little trip for my make-up course. They're Kurt Geiger, so being a student i CANNOT afford them. Technically i could use my loan but then i'd have no food for about two weeks. They are called the Gazelle Carvela black Kurt Geiger boots, and are currently retailed at £160. I liked these so much because of how soft they were, the thought of having them on your feet was just luxury and i love the little chain detailing at the top. The description on the Kurt Geiger website is: 'Put your fashion foot forward with these 'Gazelle' peep toe ankle boots from Carvela Kurt Geiger. With super soft suede and a gold chain trim these evening boots are perfect for those winter nights out. Heel height 14cm'   Someone please buy them for me, size 5, don't forget.

Item 2.

Firstly I'd like to just put it out there that i'm a definite Harry Potter nerd, so when i saw this AND the fact it was on 50% discount i cried a little inside. Just teasing really isn't it? This bracelet is from www.ashleybridget.com an american business, that i saw advertised on Facebook! I can't get over how quaint and unique and just utterly amazing this is, i think it's really imaginative and just super cute. The colours also allow it to be paired with nearly any outfit, greys and silvers go with most things so it would definitely be worn a lot! The only bad thing about this is I don't know how bulky it is, as my wrists are ridiculously small it would look stupid if it was too chunky. (i don't think i like the word chunky..)

Item 3.

Only going to do three items today so i can make this wish list a weekly thing and keep you updated on what i'm liking each week! This outfit... coat mainly, is what i've been looking at. I think fur coats (faux fur) are so classy looking and incredibly cosy looking for the winter which is quickly approaching us! This coat i saw on display at Miss Selfridge when i was at the student lock in event. I instantly fell in love, and needing a new coat for the winter anyway i was very tempted to break the bank and grab this. If you want a closer look , click the link below to view it online!

Self french manicure

So here is my Sunday post, it's only been a day since i blogged last so there's improvements already! I will definitely keep this up as i'm getting more and more into it each time, and getting used to using a blog.
As well as fashion I'm really into beauty, i'm a qualified make-up artist so there will be a lot of beauty related posts too :) This one is about nails, nails are my least favourite beauty thing, i just never have the patience to paint them myself and my nails are so weak and rubbish i just leave them alone.

For some reason on this day i had a huge urge to have a go at a french manicure and i'm actually pretty pleased with the results! I don't have a french manicure set with me at uni, i just used two colours that worked really well. I also don't have any guide strips so this was all free hand!

This was the end result, i think i got the white tips really straight which surprised me because i'm always so clumsy when it comes to painting nails! (excuse my nails all being different lengths, they break so easily boooo.)

These are the two nail varnishes that i used, a matte white and a pinkish clear varnish with glitter in it. I've never tried glitter with a french manicure but i much prefer it and it's definitely more my style!

Student Lock In Event OOTD

Yet again i've been an absolute lazy cow and not been blogging regularly! I promise i will change starting here! This outfit was a few days ago now but i really liked it so i thought i would share. I always find dressing for winter really difficult because i prefer summer clothing by a mile. I always feel chucking on a bunch of layers makes me look really unflattering and swamped in a sea of fabric, BUT this outfit i was pretty pleased with and felt like it all matched up well so here we go :

I was going to the student lock in, which if you haven't heard of it is an event where a shopping centre hosts a huge discount session and the majority of the shops have deals and discounts going on. Looking it up and seeing that Miss Selfridge AND Topshop have 20% off was more than enough of a persuasion for me to go.

So here is what i wore to the event ! I took a shirt that i bought ages ago in a H&M sale and put it under my newish coral cropped jumper. This was to a) keep me warmer with an extra layer and b) expose the cute collar detail on the shirt. I paired it with my black disco pants, they're high waisted so it was ideal with a cropped jumper (i tucked the shirt into them.) Finally i finished it off with the accessories, my brown boots, pink handbag and my pandora bracelet!

Shirt : H&M (sale)
Jumper: Topshop (£32-£36)
Disco Pants: American Apparel (£70-£75)
Boots: Miss Selfridge (£48)
Handbag: New Look (£20)
Bracelet: Pandora (Price ranges depending on charms/chain)

OOTD Elephant leggings

So it's taken me ages to come round to doing another post, and i have no excuse except from pure laziness! I decided to do an outfit of the day post on my most 'quirky' fashion possession. My elephant leggings from Urban Outfitters!

Urban Outfitters are well known for their individuality, and their unique trendy pieces. I saw these leggings and instantly wanted to buy them! They are nothing like my 'style', and i still don't know what attracted me to them, and was even more clueless on how to style this statement piece!

So here they are! I decided to pair them with a plain black t-shirt because mixing patterns could end up with me looking like a clown. Especially as i have no idea what pattern to pair with an elephant print. Black goes with pretty much anything so this works, and i made it a little more exciting with my long heart pendant necklace and my heeled biker boots.

Biker boots have come into fashion recently, and again I surprised myself liking them as they really aren't typically girly! These boots were actually my mums that she bought from a boutique in a village near where i live, and are a size too big for me but they were too nice to not keep! The laces are probably my favourite feature of the boots, i think it gives a really cool twist to the look and these shoes are similar to Rihanna's which she designed for River Island.

Going outside i wore this outfit with my black leather jacket.

Leggings: Urban Outfitters , around £28
T-Shirt: New Look, only £3!
Boots: The Forge Boutique, (Price Unknown)
Necklace : Miss Dee (Birthday Present)
