OOTD: Christmas Day

Sitting here in my ill state (im always ill in winter its a joke) i realised i didn't post about my christmas day outfit! Ooops. Christmas is a favourite day of mine, and this year was my family's turn to spend it at my cousin's in Wiltshire.

We started the morning by opening presents, i got some lovely things! I will try and feature some of my new stuff in product reviews and OOTD's when i get round to it. My main present from my parents were my kurt geiger heels, i have a blog post on them in my wish list. I FINALLY OWN THEM. After about 6 months of staring at them i now have them all for myself.

So here was my outfit. Of course im wearing my new shoes, how could i resist. They were £140 in retail and £160 online for some reason, but so worth it. Because of the slim gold chain i decided to wear all black and gold to revolve my outfit around my shoes! My dress is super old, from Topshop and i have no memory of what the price was. My necklace is featured in my birthday haul post and was a present from my auntie but i'm pretty sure it's a River Island piece! A simple outfit that i finished off with waves through my hair and a red lip.

Me and mum, wearing Karen Millen

Not sharing all my presents on here, but i wanted to share this one. My boyfriend who's currently away in Canada, sent this over for Christmas and i thought it was the sweetest thing ever! I had no idea you could get love heart pandora boxs and i prefer them so much to the plain square ones! As he's in Whistler i've named my bear Whistler and he has now filled up a section on my bracelet! <3

First Fashion Work Experience: The Clothes Show Live 2013

A month ago i got the chance to work at one of the UK's biggest fashion events, the clothes show live in the Birmingham NEC. If you haven't been before i would seriously recommend it but would advise you to go with a group of girl friends as the amount of unhappy boyfriends being dragged around the stalls with their girlfriends didn't seem like a very enjoyable experience for either of them!

The arena is full of different clothing and beauty stores, with the occasional unique stall here and there. The stalls vary from different clothing brands, make-up brands, unique vintage clothing labels, hair stalls and even beauty treatments such as teeth whitening! There are also numerous catwalk shows, featuring Britain and Ireland's next top model, and every half an hour the main catwalk show is performed, where models show off a mixture of designer clothing, and are accompanied on stage with professional dancers. You also get the opportunity to meet certain celebrities, and there are a lot of prize winning occasions to get involved with along with plenty of free goody bags!

I was extremely lucky to be able to work backstage for the main event. I was a dresser, and was given a dancer which i has happy with as the outfits were a lot simpler to get on and off in comparison to the models.
I had 6 outfits, one quick change, and basically had to make sure i had the right outfit ready at the right scene, and help my dancer with anything she needed.

The work itself was fairly tough, although dressing doesn't seem like much effort, i was having to travel from my Uni, Northampton, to Birmingham every morning for 6 days, and my days ended up being 16 hours. It didn't help that there wasn't many opportunities to eat, as the food served there was pretty disgusting we ended up having to sneak off to subway and starbucks if we had the time, and if we didn't, then we didn't eat! A combination of lack of food and sleep made everyone exhausted and we were looking forward to the last day.

Throughout the show i bonded closer to my course mates, we were all struggling with the long days together and travelling together that we all became super close and looking back at it we miss the experience altogether! I also felt like i made a good bond with my supervisor there, and with my dancer Caoife, who were both extremely lovely ladies and made it all worthwhile being there.

We ended up knowing all the songs to the catwalk, and all the speeches off by heart we heard it that much, but on the last day everyone was in good spirits and it was such a good day. We did the shows as normal, and were allowed a glass of champagne which was nice. I got an autograph of Stooshe for my sister, and i also saw Union J, TOWIE cast and MIC cast and Peter Andre. Near the end of the show i got a picture with my favourite male TOWIE cast member, Dan Osborne! I have a huge thing for him, so naturally this was extremely exciting.

Everyone was so thankful for my hard work and i am definitely applying for a job role next year! My first fashion experience was amazing and i can't wait to see what next year brings. We also got invited to the VIP after party, which sadly none of us could go too as we lived too far away and was far too much to book a hotel. :(. So proud of myself for committing all the way through to the end, and i'll certainly never forget about it!
